What Happens When I Stop Resisting The Lows
Step Into The Greatest Reset
Have you ever felt like there’s so much you want to do, say, transmit, create but the energy tank is empty?
Have you ever felt like there’s a really heavy downward pulling feeling in your body?
Do you often wonder when you’re going to feel yourself again?
This is what I call the “low” the “lull” and what seems to me like an inner winter.
In winter trees draw their energy inwards and downwards, nurturing their root system, growing them stronger in order to dive deeper in the Earth in the quest for nutrients that will nourish new wood in the spring.
But what if we have this as a feeling passing through the body, even outside of winter? Women go through their own inner winter each month whilst they’re menstruating - and I don’t mean this is a generalise state of being for the whole week. Energy may rise and peak at different times for different women and sometimes even differently for the same woman according to the cycle she’s in.
So as I stood up from my working station (lying on the tiles on the floor of my living room where the air is cool) I ask myself, am I pathetic?
Moving past this initial enquiry, I wonder to myself, should I just rest in this state for longer? What if I moved my body, what if I danced? What if I made use of this moment?
Is this really me or can I allow myself to indulge in this moment?
What is it with this obsession with productivity, output, growth, doing?
Could we simply be? Am I abandoning myself by allow myself to exist in this moment?
I realise we are so quick to want to move past discomfort but what would surrendering to discomfort look like in this moment?
From experience, the minute I truly surrender to these states and accept that I do not control their duration, the feeling subsides and I am back to my more active self. And sometimes it takes longer, because surrendering implies freeing myself of the expectation that it will end, and most certainly freeing myself of a timeline.
Creating Soft Spaces for others implies full non-judgmental state of mind, pure love and acceptance, but before I can do this for others I need to do this for myself. Regardless of what is moving from. And that is my commitment.
There’s a fear there. What if I am stuck in it for too long? What if I surrender to it and become engulfed by it? Is this even mine? The ego again trying to explain, to contain, when something just wants to be lived.
The mind has ideas on what needs to happen next but the body is void of energy to follow.
What is the resting place, the reset, the rejuvenation?
We are not machines, and even machines need resets. A reset doesn’t need to be a retreat or a weekend, it can be a moment, a breath, three breaths even.
This is what The Soft Space is about.
